Welcome Everyone!
Autumn has finally arrived, bringing cooler weather 🧊 and a beautiful change in scenery 🍃. As we transition into the indoor growing season, it's time to ensure that your orchids and tropical plants are cozy and well-cared for.
*Preparing Your Plants for Winter: 🌺
By now, most of your plants should be inside, whether in a warm greenhouse, basement, or dedicated plant room. Here are some tips to help your plants thrive during the colder months:
Light: Ensure your plants receive ample light, as they may not get the same intensity indoors.
Humidity: Consider using a humidifier to maintain the humidity levels that orchids love. This will also help reduce water loss through leaf transpiration.
Watering and Fertilizing: Cut back on both watering and fertilizing. Remember that some species, like Dendrobiums, Catasetinae, and Habenarias, require a dryer rest during the winter. Leaf Transpiration
Pest Control: Keep a close eye on your plants for pests. In confined spaces, bugs, viruses, bacteria, and fungal infections can spread quickly.
